He’s still learning…

Blue: What are those things called that are black and white and stink?!

Dad: Skunks

Blue: Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. Skunks get stinky when they’re afraid.

Me: Good job, bud! Did you learn that at school?

Blue: Nope, Bubble Guppies.

Graduation Recap

Prior to getting their diploma/certificate, each of the kids in the boys’ class were asked two questions…

Teacher: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Red: I want to be a roofer.

(No idea where this came from. He’s never talked about doing this before. He always says he wants to be a fireman.)

Teacher: What are you going to miss the most about school?

Red: The block area.

Teacher: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Blue: I want to fix lights.

(This is what his dad says he does….electrician = fix lights.)

Teacher: What are you going to miss the most about school?

Blue: Coloring.

The entire time (all :30 seconds) Blue was talking, he was on the verge of tears. He’s super afraid of talking in front of people and gets really shy and awkward. (Sorry, buddy. Totally my fault!)

Later that night, as I was tucking them into bed, I asked, “Blue, why did you almost start crying when you were talking about what you wanted to be?”

Blue: I’m just so proud. I just want to make dad so happy. That’s why I said the things I said.

Heaven From Red’s Eyes

On our flight to Jamaica, I sat next to Red. As we were ascending, I told him, “Hey bud, look out the window. We’re above the clouds now.”

Red: I don’t see anybody up here?!

Me: What? We’re up really high, bud. See, those are clouds down there.

Red: Yeah, I see. Aren’t there lots of people up here?

Me: What do you mean?

Red: I thought Heaven was above the clouds. I don’t see anyone.

Me: Oh! Yes, Heaven is above the clouds. But it’s up really high. We won’t go that high.

Red: Oh,(as a look of sadness comes over him) I was really hoping to see your mom.
